Randy E. Smith is a coal miner with over 40 years of experience, a small business owner, and current State Senator.
Elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates in 2012, Randy Smith has been a champion of conservative values. He has fought for better roads, lower taxes, a smaller and more efficient state government, a better business climate, and traditional West Virginia family values.
He knows the people in our community, like all West Virginians, are hard working and dedicated to their families. At the end of the day, they just want to put food on the table.
As a small business owner, Randy knows how hard it is to create jobs in this economic environment. He knows that we need leaders in Charleston who will foster a business climate in this state that encourages job creation.
He was a lifelong resident of Terra Alta until his relocation to Thomas/Davis in 2015 for employment and has spent a good portion of his life volunteering in both his community and local church. He and his wife are active members of Brookside Church of the Brethren in Aurora.
Fix The Darn Roads (#FTDR)
Randy’s Dream to Fix The Darn Roads was the rallying call for both sides of the state government last year. A bill in which Randy was the lead sponsor on has brought attention to the deteriorating secondary roads in WV. Sadly, the governor vetoed this bill which would have given money desperately needed for repairs, resources to the local DOH offices, and accountability to make sure the governor and his staff did not use the roads for political pawns. But he is ready to continue the fight!
